FAQ

Q: Wait, what is this?

A: This is Ideas For Dads. You can read more about it here but the short and skinny version is: This is a website for Dads (or any caregivers) to make the most of their time with their children. The by-product of this project is that I get to do the same thing with my children. Awesome.

Q: Aren't there other websites doing this?

A: There sure are! Upon researching for this project I found lots of cool sites for fathers. I felt compelled to start this project after discovering that a lot of the other sites feature lots of advertorial and sponsorship. Also, there was no 'voice' like mine. My voice being a 30-something Kiwi guy who can barely change a car tyre.

Q: Woah, woah, woah - what is wrong with advertorial and sponsorship?

A: Absolutely nothing. In time I hope you might see some of the same things on here. But, I'm dubious of websites where the sole-focus seems to be getting free stuff and talking about how great it is. I'm a fan of advertorial if it's done honestly and with integrity.

Q: Why the name? What do you have against Mums?
A: That's two questions. But, I chose the name because I am a Dad myself and felt that I would be better qualified to write about ideas for Dads than ideas for Grandmas, feel me? I have nothing against Mums, Aunts, Uncles, Koros or whoever is out there looking after their young people. If you're making the most of your time with you children, you're alright with me :)

Q: What makes you the expert?

A: Not much. I have been a Dad for eight years and I've done my best. That's about all I can tell you. I have no qualifications from Dad University but my children think I'm cool.

Q: What do you hope to achieve with this project?

A: There are five things I would like to say I'm doing/I've done with this blog

  1. See examples of Dads using my ideas and getting good results.
  2. Getting real feedback from Dads - emails and blog comments.
  3. Provide my own children with great memories, great times and great parenting.
  4. Get sponsorship that helps me continue my project.
  5. Get an all expenses trip to go see the All Blacks play Australia with my family and blog about it  - hey, I can dream can't I?
Q: Where do you get your ideas from?

A: So far most of the ideas I use are just things that I do with my children and I'm documenting this for this blog. Occasionally I find cool ideas on Pinterest or books or magazines. If you have any suggestions of ideas or resources for ideas, I'm all ears. That rhymes.
